Apple is bringing some changes to the internal design of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models for the better. Note that the external design language is expected to be more or less similar to the current models, besides a slightly larger footprint for the 'Pro' models. Now, the company is rumored to bring some changes on the inside. According to the latest, Apple plans to redesign the MagSafe charging ring on the iPhone 16 lineup, making them a little thinner and possibly not impacting the strength of the magnets.
Apple to launch iPhone 16 models with a thinner MagSafe charging ring compared to current models
A French website has reportedly obtained the molds of all four models of the iPhone 16, showcasing the camera layout and the framework for the MagSafe charging ring. While the change is pretty small, it could have a purpose that we are not familiar with as of yet. However, the molds corroborate earlier rumors that the standard iPhone 16 lineup will come with a redesigned camera layout reminiscent of the iPhone X and the iPhone 12 models.
It can be seen in the images embedded below that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will come with a vertical camera layout, in contrast to the diagonal layout on the current iPhone 15 models. The 'Pro' models, on the other hand, appear to show the same camera layout as the iPhone 15 Pro. Other than this, the French website ShopSystem also shows the redesigned MagSafe charging ring, reported to come with the iPhone 16 lineup.

It appears that Apple has managed to reduce the thickness of the ring for a thinner outer diameter. This could make accessory makers tailor to the new requirements, but it remains to be seen if the current accessories will be compatible. If this is the case, the iPhone 16 lineup will continue to support the new Q2 chargers that require magnets for a strong connection with the iPhone.

At this point, there is no word if the new design of the MagSafe will have any impact on the functionality of the iPhone 16 lineup. Could it allow the iPhone 16 to bolster higher wireless charging speeds than what we are used to? While it is highly unlikely, the new design could offer stronger magnets. Apple's iPhone 16 lineup will be a notable upgrade over the current models, and the company's new AI features will have a lot to do with it. The iPhone 16 lineup would be the first device to house internals with a dedicated focus on artificial intelligence.
